From design to delivered.
Here's how it works.
You've got a design. You want merch. You don't want to guess how many to order or risk eating unsold inventory. That's exactly what Merchenary is for.
Find a producer
A producer is anyone who makes physical goods: a screen printer, an embroidery shop, a pin manufacturer, a sticker printer. You probably have one nearby.
- Search "[your city] screen printing" or "[your city] custom patches"
- Ask other creators or bands in your area who they use
- Check Instagram for local print shops. Most post their work.
- Don't have a local option? Many producers work remotely and ship directly to your buyers. Or they can ship the full order to you, and you handle distribution.
Get a quote
Once you find a producer, ask them for pricing at different quantities. Most producers charge less per unit when you order more. That's the whole idea behind Merchenary.
- Download our producer cost template and send it to your producer. They fill in their prices and send it back.
- Your producer will tell you: setup costs (one-time fees like screen fees or die charges), unit cost at different quantities, and shipping costs.
Set up your campaign
Plug your producer's numbers into Merchenary. Set your minimum order, your profit per unit, and your end date. Upload a mockup of your product.
- The platform calculates the price for your backers automatically. As more people join, the price drops for everyone.
- You only need to hit your minimum. If you don't, nobody gets charged.
Share it
Send your campaign link to your audience. Share tiles make it easy to post on Instagram, Twitter, or anywhere else. Every person who joins makes the price lower for everyone.
Get it made
When your campaign closes and hits its minimum, everyone gets charged. You get a complete order breakdown (sizes, quantities, addresses) to send to your producer. Place the order, and ship it out (or hand it out at your event).
Common questions
What if my campaign doesn't hit the minimum?
Nobody gets charged. Backed amounts are released automatically.
Do I need to pay my producer upfront?
That depends on your producer. Most require payment when you place the order. Merchenary sends you the funds from your campaign, then you pay your producer.
Can my producer ship directly to buyers?
Yes! Many producers offer direct-to-customer fulfillment. Just coordinate with them and enter their shipping rates in your campaign.
What products work with Merchenary?
Anything a producer makes in bulk: shirts, hats, patches, stickers, enamel pins, posters, koozies, challenge coins, skate decks, and more.
